I received a slideshow a few months ago, that really gave me the creeps. I would most gladly share it with everyone, but unfortunately it is in romanian so probably nobody will understand. That is why I am simply translating it:

Dying without water

Letter written in the year 2070.

We are in the year 2070. I am 50 year old but I look 85.I have a lot of problems because I do not drink enough water. I don't think I have much time left. Nowadays I am one of the eldest in my society.
I remember when I was 5 year old everything was different. There where trees and flowers in the parks and I could stay under the shower even for an hour. Now we used towels with mineral oils to clean ourselves.
Before women used to show off their beautiful hair, nowadays they shave it all off in order to be clean. My dad used to wash the car with the hose, the law abides such things nowadays.
I remember there were banners where it was written "PAY ATTENTION TO WATER" but nobody did. They thought water was inexhaustible. Today all the streams, rivers, lakes, oceans, seas and underground rivers are irretrievably contamined or dried.
The surrounding landscape is nothing but an endless desert.
Gastrointestinal infections, skin diseases and urinary infections are the primary causes of death.
Attacks for a bottle of water are common. The food is 80% synthetic.
Long ago we were being recommended to drink 8 glasses of water a day. Now I have the right to drink only a half of glass.
Because we can't wash our clothes we simply through them away, fact that increases the already existing mountains of garbage. We returned to using latrines, like in the past century because the undergroung can not work without water.
People are face with fear: their bodies are asthenic, wrinkled because of the infrared iradiation caused by the hole in the ozone layer, which can no longer protect us.
A 20 year old women looks forty because of the wrinkles cause by dehydration. Scientist conduct researches but there is no sollution to be found.
We can not make water. Oxygen concentration is reduced because of the lack of vegetation, causing decreased intellect of the new generation.
The sperm morphology of a lot of men has changed causing the birth of children with malformationa and mutations.
The air if not of a very good quality, but at least we can breath.
The life average is of 35 years.
A few coutries have manage to preserved some islands of vegetation with flowing water. These areas are very well guarded. Water has become a more valuable good than gold and diamonds.
There are no trees because if almost never rains. And if it does it is only acid rain. There are no seasons becuase of the climatic changes (the greenhouse effect) because of the actions of the previous generations whe have polluted the environment.
Despite that we have forseen that we must preserve our environment, we did nothing.
When my daughter asks me to tell her how things were when I was young I tell her the forests were beautiful. I tell her about rain, and flowers, and the plasure of swimming and fishing in lakes. And the right to drink as much water as one chooses. And the good health of people.
She asks me "Dad, why do these things no longer exist?" The word are stuck in my throat.
I can not stop blaiming myself, for I belong to the generation who has completed the destruction of the environment by not taking the warnings into consideration. I belong to the last generation who could have changed something but decided direffently
Today our children pay for this.
I truly believe that life on earth will no longer be possible, because the destruction of the environment has reached a point of no return.
How I long to be able to return in the past the make the people understand...to go to the moment where we could have still changed something.
Take this seriously, for this is not a game. Save the water, do it for the future generations. We must not pass on a destructed planel, hell as a heirloom, let us leave them life.

This letter had a huge impact upon myself, and even if it is shocking (and though I do not agree with shocking people to make them realise) I must say, this will most deffinetly have a big impact upon other people as well.
