WATER SAVING IS A MUST!!

As we all progress into the 21st century, we all find the need that we should do something which will help everyone to benefit from the pleasure of having access to clean and safe water. Reducing our water consumption is directly related with saving energy due to the fact bringing water into your house requires energy. Not only that, but conserving water now can help prevent or lessen the impact of a drought later. And there are a number of free, simple ways to conserve water. Don’t let the water run, shut the faucet off when you’re not actively using the water for anything. Soak your dishes instead of running water over them continually. Shortening your showers by one minute can save up to 13,785.4 liters per year. Turn off the water for the 120 seconds while you are brushing your teeth. Every little bit helps.Don’t over water; very few plants actually need to be watered every day. More plants are killed each year from over watering than under watering. In the wild they live just fine without interference from the human race. Pay attention to the weather. If it’s going to rain, outdoor plants don’t need to be watered. For indoor plants, you can collect rainwater and use that, or recycle the water that you use to wash your fruits and vegetables. Each time you run the washer or dryer, you use a great deal of water. Aside from buying a new, energy efficient appliance, the best way to cut down on the amount of water here is to use your washer less. So only use it when you have a full load. And if you can, reuse the items a couple of times before washing them again.

Saving water

I think what we should do first is to try to make everybody conscious about this topic for example by teaching children at school so those children would tell their parents what they are doing wrong

Secondly, it would be important to actually make a moderated use of water, by recycling water using it for the plants and things like that.

But I think that what it should be done first is to make people feel that they have the responsability of saving water, because many people think " well, it's just a bath" the problem is that a LOT of people think that way so it's not just ONE bath that ONE person takes, they are many more.

WE ALL HAVE TO HELP^^

My insight

From most to less important:
1)Take shorter showers. Replace you showerhead with an ultra-low-flow version. Some units are available that allow you to cut off the flow without adjusting the water temperature knobs.

2)Never put water down the drain when there may be another use for it such as watering a plant or garden, or cleaning.

3)If the toilet flush handle frequently sticks in the flush position, letting water run constantly, replace or adjust it.

4)Verify that your home is leak-free, because many homes have hidden water leaks. Read your water meter before and after a two-hour period when no water is being used. If the meter does not read exactly the same, there is a leak.

5)Avoid flushing the toilet unnecessarily. Dispose of tissues, insects and other such waste in the trash rather than the toilet.

6) Use the minimum amount of water needed for a bath by closing the drain first and filling the tub only 1/3 full. Stopper tub before turning water. The initial burst of cold water can be warmed by adding hot water later.

7)Never install a water-to-air heat pump or air-conditioning system. Air-to-air models are just as efficient and do not waste water.

8)Do not use running water to thaw meat or other frozen foods. Defrost food overnight in the refrigerator or by using the defrost setting on your microwave.

9)Retrofit all wasteful household faucets by installing aerators with flow restrictors.

10)Insulate your water pipes. You'll get hot water faster plus avoid wasting water while it heats up.

Saving water

I've already posted some tips for saving water at home, in the garden, at School,... but I think that the best way is to use water in a rational and reasonable way and to be aware that it is a limited ressource. Due to a bad use, the pollution and the global warming we will have more serious problems in the near future.

well

well, first of all, through saving water we don`t have to pay so much for the water. a very simple tipp is to think about how people in africa have to go whole miles a day to their water source. and think about the poor children who die because of water shortage. if that doasn`t motivate you to use less water, i don`t know what does...

The shortage of drinkable

The shortage of drinkable water is a problem that is getting more and more serious as we do not actually do much things in order to cope with that.I believe that if each one of us take action following some very simple tipps. We should bear in mind that every drop counts.1) Install a low-flow showerhead. Water saved: about 2 gallons per minute.
2) Replace older, larger-use toilets with the newer higher efficiency toilets. Water saved: .5 to 5 gallons per flush.
3) Take short showers and save the baths for special occasions. Water saved: 2 to 5 gallons per minute. then the situation would be improved.
.4)Do not let the water run while rinsing. We could filll one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water.
5) Adjust sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not the house, sidewalk, or street.
6) Run your clothes washer and dishwasher only when they are full. You can save up to 1,000 gallons a month.

7) Use the garbage disposal sparingly. Compost vegetable food waste instead and save gallons every time.

8)Monitor your water bill for unusually high use. Your bill and water meter are tools that can help you discover leaks.

9) Water your lawn and garden in the morning or evening when temperatures are cooler to minimize evaporation.

10) Wash your fruits and vegetables in a pan of water instead of running water from the tap.
