I admit that my topic is far-fecthed...but I think that it can be an opportunity not only to discuss about water but exchange tittles of movies (of course, linked to water).
Everyone knows Titanic for example :
An old lady who claims to be a survivor of the Titanic tells her story to an eager group of tresure hunters, who are insearch of a rare diamond in the Titanic's wreckage.
Her name is Rose and she was a passenger on the Titanic along with the star, Jack.
The two meet and Rose, unhappy with her arranged marriage to male chovanist pig Cal. Jack, a young artist, who struggles to get through with life yet inexplicably enjoys it, sees the true Rose hidden behind the upper class snob. As he continues to spend time with her the two fall in love and kiss on the bow of the Titanic. Meanwhile the ship hits an iceberg and Jack is framed for theft and chained up in the lower levels of the ship WHILST IT IS SINKING! Rose tries to find a way to free him, and get off the ship.
Will they both survive the sinking?

Water (2005 film)
Water is a 2005 Canadian film directed and written by Deepa Mehta, with dialogues written by Anurag Kashyap. It is set in 1938 and explores the lives of widows at an ashram in Varanasi, India. The film is also the third part of Mehta's Elements trilogy. It was preceded by Fire (1996) and Earth (1998). Author Bapsi Sidhwa wrote the 2006 novel based upon the film, Water: A Novel, published by Milkweed Press. Sidhwa's earlier novel, Cracking India was the basis for Earth, the second film in the trilogy. The film premiered at the 2005 Toronto International Film Festival, where it was honoured with the Opening Night Gala, and was released across Canada in November of that year. It was first released in India on 9 March 2007.

''Water, mirror of the Andean world''...
A movie to watch : "L'eau, miroir du monde andin" (rewarded during the 4th world forum of water).
Directed by Luc Bazin, 2002.
A spectacular landscape sculpted by a tangle of irrigation canals, some of which date back to pre-colonial days. The history of the Andean communities lies in this mastery of space, of the mountain and its water. This is technical and social prowess, and symbolic too because they had to rely on the gods to fashion these steep slopes...

"Water World" must be interesting...
Wooow
I don't know, that there is too much films about water. Thanks for this topic. I will try to watch everyone of them.
water world :)
The studio didn't spend any money researching weather patterns off Hawaii's Kona coast, where the film was shot. If they had, they would have learned that the area was subject to 45 mph winds, which constantly blew the set out of position and ruined shots.
Jeanne Tripplehorn and Tina Majorino were nearly drowned on their first day of filming when the trimaran they were on sank, dragging them behind it.
The script underwent 36 different drafts which involved six different writers.
Gary Busey and Laurence Fishburne also turned down the part of the Deacon.
The shoot was shut down 3 times due to hurricane alerts.
Kevin Costner personally invested $22 million of his own money into the film.
Jeanne Tripplehorn, refused to strip for this film, even though she had done nude scenes before, and would do them again later as well. She insisted however on choosing her body double as she wanted the naked backside shown to resemble her own. She had the three finalists come into her trailer and drop their robes. She described it as such an odd experience none of them could stop laughing. In between takes of the nude scene Tripplehorn remained off camera to offer a robe or towel to the double

The map tattoo on Enola's back is in Chinese traditional characters (or Japanese Kanji). The characters in the middle surrounding the arrow are actual coordinates for longitude and latitude. While one number is not quite readable, the others give almost exact coordinates for Mount Everest, which is Latitude 27° 59' N Longitude 86° 56' E. The movie coordinates give: Latitude 27 or 28° 58' N Longitude 86° 56' E.
Laird John Hamilton, the famous big wave rider was Kevin Costner’s double for many water scenes.
The atoll set was over 1/4 mile in circumference.
Costume designer John Bloomfield estimated that over 2000 costumes were made.
The 1,000 ton floating set used up all the available steel in the Hawaiian Islands. When more was required, it had to be flown in from California.
The 1,000 ton floating set did not have any restrooms, nor were there any on any of the 30 boats used by the cast and crew. The result was that filming had to halt so those in need could be ferried to a barge anchored near the shore which had several portable toilets on it.
Costner was put up in an oceanfront villa with a butler, chef, and his own private swimming pool. Cost: $4,500 a night.
In stark contrast to the luxury enjoyed by Costner, the film crew were forced to live in un-insulated condominiums which were subject to temperature swings of up to fifty degrees. The inequity of accommodations contributed to hostility and low morale on the set.
Kevin Costner's salary for the movie was $14 million.
The studio's first choice for director was Robert Zemeckis.
Waterworld (1995)
Kevin Costner was on the set 157 days, working 6 days a week.
Mark Isham's score was reported rejected because it was "too ethnic".
Jokingly called "Kevin's Gate" because it had an over-inflated budget like Heaven's Gate (1980) did.
The name of the child, Enola, is alone spelled backwards.
Widely considered to be one of the biggest box-office bombs of all time. Although it grossed $255 million from a $175 million production budget, this does not factor in marketing and distribution costs, or the percentage of the gross that theaters keep (which is up to 45% of a film's box office takings).
For the Japanese premiere, Kevin Costner had his private plane flown to Tokyo. However, he failed to get permission to store his plane at the airport for the duration of his trip. He asked the Navy if he could use their airport at Atsugi. They agreed, contingent on Costner showing the movie there, and making a personal appearance.
Gene Hackman, James Caan and Gary Oldman all turned down the role of the Deacon.
LOGO GIMMICK: The Universal Studios logo, the planet Earth, was given a close-up, and as it got closer, the continents began to fade away until there was nothing left... but water.
Tina Majorino was nicknamed "Jellyfish Candy" by the crew after she was stung three different times by the creatures during production.
The language Kevin Costner speaks to the lemon-stealing drifter early in the movie is Hindi.
It has been reported that Roger Corman passed on making this film because he felt it could not be made for less than $3 million.
Waterworld (1995)
The real Exxon Valdez was repaired and renamed the Sea River Mediterranean. It is used to haul oil across the Atlantic.
In the scene where The Deacon (Dennis Hopper) takes aim at The Mariner (Kevin Costner) with his rifle, he first licks his thumb and then wipes the rifle sight, just like Gary Cooper does with his Alvin York character in Sergeant York (1941).
The picture on the wall that Deacon refers as "Old Saint Joe" is actually Joseph Hazelwood, infamous captain who crashed the Exxon Valdez oil tanker into the Alaskan landscape, negligently discharging millions of gallons of crude oil. The base of the Smokers is the Exxon Valdez, as evident when it sinks. The stern rises and the word "Valdez" is visible.
The most remembered line from Waterworld (1995), "Dryland is not a myth; I have seen it", is never spoken in the actual movie.
The four-machine gun chassis in the atoll assault scene is called a Maxon Mount. It is comprised of four .50 caliber Browning machine guns and was used as an anti-aircraft battery during World War II. It also came in a two gun mount which was used upto & in the Vietnam War as a Point Defense Weapon.
Joss Whedon flew out to the set to do last minute rewrites on the script. He later described it as "seven weeks of hell".
Because the movie didn't make as much money as planned, it was nicknamed "Fishtar", after the 1987 box office bomb Ishtar (1987).
Stunt coordinator Norman Howell got hit with compression sickness during filming of an underwater scene and was rushed to a hospital in Honolulu via helicopter. He recovered fairly quickly from the potentially life-threatening sickness and returned to the set a couple days later.
Waterworld (1995)
Anna Paquin was the first choice to play Enola.
Rumors abound that director Kevin Reynolds walked off the set with two weeks of filming left, and Kevin Costner completed the film.
The sunken city visited by the Mariner and guest is actually a digitally edited Denver, Colorado. The "Norwest Building" (roughly shaped like a cash register) can be seen in one shot.
Prior to Titanic (1997), this was the most expensive movie ever produced.
If the icecaps melted, the oceans would only rise a few hundred feet; not enough to flood civilization into a floating oblivion.
The begining is interesting
The begining is interesting with some great visuals, but it becomes an overlong, "save the ocean" film. Not that I hate the ocean, but it lost it's freaky feel.
"Sort of Jaws updated, Deep
"Sort of Jaws updated, Deep Blue Sea is fairly cheesy and implausible but has some great moments. It may not be the best, but really, Jaws is the only great underwater horror film."

GHOST WAVES
It is an adventure movie. It is about the battle of fishermen against huge waves. It was an impressive movie and i liked it.
Poseidon
It is similar to Titanic:
On New Year's Eve, the luxury ocean liner, Poseidon, capsizes after being swamped by a rogue wave. The survivors are left to fight for survival as they attempt to escape the sinking ship.
Poseidon is a 2006 action-adventure disaster film and the third film adaptation of The Poseidon Adventure by Paul Gallico. It stars Josh Lucas, Kurt Russell, Emmy Rossum, Jacinda Barrett, and Richard Dreyfuss.

In the movie called "Into the Blue",a group of people finds a plane underwater while they were diving just for fun. It's an interesting movie.
OPEN WATER 1 / OPEN WATER 2
I love OPEN WATER 1 and OPEN WATER 2... I think they are really great movies about water. This movie is about desperation, about your life being taken from you with hours to feel how you will not be the same, because you know it's over for you, but you don't want to believe it... something we like to call hope.
If you didin't watch them i think you must watch these films... :)
I like the water. I like to
I like the water. I like to swim in it and bath in it. I also liked to be scared to set foot in it. Here are some scary water movies I have seen (except Dark Water and Incident at Loch Ness)."
OCEANS FOR PATHİ
Oceans for Pathi will change the way we look at the sea and the creatures that call it home. It is a feat of engineering and technology, but it is also a triumph of the spirit. Filming took place not over months but years and cost approximately 100 million dollars. The film makers used specially designed cameras that would be unobtrusive and become one with the subject, to enable us to see from the eyes of the animal's viewpoint.
Oceans for Pathi is going to blow us all away.
ooo Titanic...I always,
ooo Titanic...I always, always cry when watching this movie .. I love horror movies and related to water, such as for example: "Shark" or "The Sea Beast" ... A contrast to this, my favorite cartoon is "Mermaid" :-) What can I say ... I'm versatile:-D
JAWS
Yes, Titanic is well known by almost everyone. But water also deals with the other side of the coin. Jaws is definitely a cult horror movie. Even Alien was known as "Jaws in space". It's interesting how many genres can be put in common just by watery enviroment.
Le grand bleu (the Big Blue), Luc Besson
Le Grand Bleu was released in France on May 11 1988 and in the United States August 22 1988. It was released in the United States under the name The Big Blue. Le Grand Bleu was the most financially successful French film of the 1980's and played in French theaters for a year.
The film charts the competition and friendship of real-life champions Jacques Mayol (played by Barr) and Enzo Maiorca (renamed in the film to "Enzo Molinari", and played by Reno). However the divers were not close in age in real life and did not compete. The action is divided into two timelines - the nascent rivalry between the two divers as children, and (as adults) their final competition at the world free-diving championships at the Sicilian town of Taormina. Mayol's search for love, family, "wholeness" and the meaning of life and death is a strong undercurrent of the latter timeline.
Open water, 2003
Open water has been realised by Chris Kentis in August 2004, it is a thriller, which won 2 awards.
The plot is based on the true story of two scuba divers accidentally stranded in shark infested waters after their tour boat has left.
Of course, I won't destroy the suspens, by giving you the end of the film. Enjoy !
New Moon
Two weeks ago i watched the second movie of Twilight Saga named New Moon. The film is about wampires and werwolf. By the end of the film Bella jumped water from cliff for excitement.I feel very excited.
