Individual responsibility

Am I still allowed to turn on my radiator in the winter? Shall I take the train instead of flying in my holidays? Does recycling really have any of the desired effects? Do vegetarians actually have a lower energy record? Is green electricity helping to cut emissions or is it just a modern sale of indulgences? We should ask ourselves all those questions today. After all, we do not want to be guilty for the melting of the polar ice caps and the drowning of small pacific islands in the ocean. On the other hand everbody is asking themselves what they can achieve if nobody else is joining. Therefore, the temptation to let others start with the reduction first, before becoming active oneself is very high. Shouldn't there be a lot more done to create awareness that everyone can make a change just by making little adjustments to one's behavior?
This category is about individual responsibility and the possibilities to save energy and use it more efficiently. What do you think? Does it make sense for governments to oblige citizens to develop a more conscious behaviour? What can everyone do in their environment to use energy more responsibly and why should one do this? Will more people become active if energy saving products become cheaper? In the end, climate protection policy has to be implemented on the highest level by all countries, however, without the cooperation of every single citizen this can't be successful. What would you propose? How can we create more individual responsibility? Share your thoughts!!
